The 2014 World Super bike Championship will tip off in Phillip Island, Australia on February 23rd and Ducati is all set to meet the challenge, as it has officially revealed its Super bike Team at an exclusive event in Borgo Panigale. Ducati has broadcasted the event live in order to present its team to press, fans and enthusiasts throughout the world. The especial event of Ducati also exposed that it is coming back to the brand new season of the Motorcycle Championship in full swing. This can be judged from the fact that Ducati has once again established its relations with Feel Racing after breaking up with the company back in 2010. As a result of this move, now Feel Racing will once again provide support to Ducati’s Superbike team.

The first people to hit the stage at the event were CEO of Ducati Claudio Domenicali, General Manager of Ducati Corse Luigi Dall’Igna, Sporting Director Paolo Ciabatti, SBK Project Director Ernesto Marinelli and Serafino Foti Manager of the Team. These representatives of Ducati presented the technical innovations and plans of the team for the upcoming season of Superbike Championship. Given that the CEO Domenicali said on the occasion, that they have gone back to the fundamental values and origins of the Ducati in order to meet the new goals and challenges in the upcoming season. For the reason that Superbike is a significant part of Ducati and it is because of this very reason today motorcycle enthusiasts, fans and the company itself have great interest in it.

Rider Giugliano on the other hand said that he is fully satisfied the way his new 1199 Panigale is developing. In fact, Giugliano is extremely hopeful that he will deliver his best during championship by working together with his colleague Chaz in order to beat their toughest rivals in the competition. Chaz is also confident that he will develop a good working relation with Giugliano to achieve good results in the race.

Three Most Expensive Bikes In The World

No matter how advance and luxurious car you own there is no match to a two wheeler, as daring and rebellious people always prefer to go around the world over a motorcycle. It is because of this very reason, today there are thousands of people across the globe who own a motorcycle. Due to this strong demand, the motorcycle makers are now not only focusing on improving the speed, performance and safety of their bikes, but they are also producing some limited editions models which are extremely expensive. The purpose of producing such expensive models of motorcycle is to cater the niche market that is crazy about collecting unique and lavish items. For such insane buyers we have compiled a list of three most expensive bikes ever built in the world.

Ecosse ES1 Super bike

Ecosse ES1 Super bike is at the top of the list because it requires a whopping $3.6 million amount to buy the motorcycle. For the reason that ES1 Super bike is one of the fastest and lightest motorcycle in the world that can be handled quite easily with its especially designed composite structure and electronic control system. Thanks to the United Kingdom’s F1 engineers who lend a hand to build the speedy bullet. Designers from USA also helped the manufacturer to give the bike a functional design. The renowned artist given the bike a new name Cosmic Star ship because he has used and exclusive painting style “Cosmic Extensionalism” to mesh up the extreme textures and colors in the motorcycle. As a result of that Armstrong’s Harley has become more of an artwork rather than just a bike and it has made the chopper second most expensive bike in the world with a price tag of $1 million.

Dodge Tomahawk V10 Super bike

Crash Stories Of MotoGP Riders

The World Motorcycle Grand Prix Racing Series commonly known as MotoGP is a premium motorbike racing competition, in which best riders of the world compete against each other in a clash to the death over various tracks during a season. It is because of this very reason, unlike other racing competitions, MotoGP is considered more dangerous. For the reason that till this day a large number of riders have lost their lives while taking part in this treacherous encounter. Therefore, MotoGP riders who are still alive today consider themselves extremely lucky. Nevertheless, this does not mean at all that MotoGP has failed to produce amazing riders, as there is a long list of such competitors who had mesmerised the fans by showing some unbelievable and exciting stuff. Unfortunately only a few of them are alive today.

It is because of this very reason, today riders do not take their bikes out without wearing a personal protective gear, which you can easily get from RiderWear store below are some of the top crash stories of MotoGP riders, who have either lost their lives in it or managed to survive the terrible crashes and are now once again taking part in the furious competition.

Valentino Rossi

The 34 year old Italian MotoGP racer also known as ‘Doctor Who’ is one of the most successful and longest running competitor in the history of motorcycle Grand Prix, who is known for his crazy and ruthless driving. During his long career, Rossi has won nine Grand Prix World Championships, of which seven were in the premier class. This legendary rider is now gearing up to take part in the 66th edition of the MotoGP , in spite of the fact that during last season he managed to survive a serious crash in the first lap of the race at Mugello.

Marco Simoncelli

In contrast to Rossi, 24 year Marco Simoncelli was not so lucky, as after competing in the Road Racing World Championship for straight 10 years, the young rider lost his life during a furious crash in 2011 MotoGP race at Sepang. According to the update, Simoncelli lost the control of his bike during the second lap, as a result of which he slide across the track and during the course he was hit by Rossi and Collin Edwards and his helmet came off. Although, he was immediately taken to a medical centre, unfortunately Simoncelli failed to survive the injuries. Simoncelli’s accident was rated as one of the worst accidents of 2011 on the racing track.

Michael Schumacher

Not many know that seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher has also competed in motorbike bike racing after he announced his first retirement back in 2006. One reason why not many people knew about Schumacher’s motorbike racing is that he used to take part in the competition by using the pseudonym "Marcel Niederhausen". However, his cover finally blew when in February 2009 during a practice session, Schumacher’s bike got crashed and he sustained some serious injuries. Schumacher fractured his bones in both head and neck and these injuries were so severe that even after five months break Schumacher was not able to recover from them. As a result of that the legendary champion had to postpone his first F1 comeback.

Call-ing Edwards

Those, who think that Rossi is the only nutcase rider in MotoGP should think once again, as Call-ing Edwards was another ruthless racer, who proved himself a more crazy than Velentino when he took part in the competition with Yamaha. It is because of this very reason he managed to earn the nickname of Crazy Collin. However, luck never favours a person twice, as after escaping a terrible accident in a race, the nutcase rider died 4 laps into the competition after he recovered and went back into the contest.

Get Ready To Face The Rainy Weather

Rainy season is one of the worst seasons for riders, as apart from wet roads, the bikers find it really tough to ride in rain. The major reason behind it is that cold rain water makes the body loose heat more swiftly than the wind of same temperature. Moreover, clothes and shoes of the rider also get wet in the rain, even if the biker is wearing leather boots and jackets for protection. Above all the vision of the riders gets vague when fog started to appear on the face shield of their helmets. To deal with these issues, a rider needs to do the following things in order to win the battle against rain:

Helmet

To ride in the rain bikers must wear a full face helmet because open face models will prove extremely painful for them, as rain drops will hit the rider in the face like small stones. As far as fog on face shield is concerned, riders can get rid of it by opening the vents of their helmets, using the anti-fog treatment or slightly lifting the shield up. You can find a decent range of full face helmets at RiderWear.

Rain Suit

In order to prevent the clothes from getting wet during rainy weather, a leather gear alone will not prove much helpful. Therefore, bikers should either wear one-piece or two piece rain suits, so the water cannot get in and their body temperature remains normal. Usually the two piece suits come with bib pants that not only covers the lower part of a rider’s body but also protects their chest as it is held up with the help of suspender straps. However, since the rider needs to wear a rain suit over their usual gear so it must be bigger in size to fit them properly. Otherwise, a tight rain suit will make it tough for them to move their arms, fingers and feet freely while riding the bike.

 Over Boots

The tailor-made boots of bikers will not protect their feet from getting wet in a rainstorm, so it is best that they should wear taller zip-up boots. There are number of zip-up boots available in the market which have Gore-Tex liners that keeps the rain water from seeping in to the shoes.

However, if a rider wants 100 percent waterproof shoes then, there is no match to thin over boots with elastic rubber, as they also provide great grip on wet paths.

A good pair of water proof over boots can enhance your pleaser of riding in rain and you can enjoy your rain ride before getting worried about weather

Gloves Pro Tip

Gloves pro tip is the best way to prevent the water from entering in to gloves and sleeves. So all a rider needs to do is to find a glove pro tip of his or her size and then, overlap it on to their sleeves and gloves. After that the rider is ready to hit the road in rain. However, if someone wants to more protection from rain water then, wearing surgical gloves over them is not a bad idea at all. Apart from this, riders can also cover them with the help of nylon shells. Motocross gloves is another way to protect your hands in short ride or light rain.

How to Select Right Safety Gear for Motorcycle

Selecting right safety gear is as important as choosing a right motorcycle for yourself because it provides significant protection in case of a collision or crash. Therefore, a rider must keep all the factors in mind before buying a safety gear for motorbike, as each year several people die in motorcycle accidents because of insufficient or poor protective gear. However, not every rider knows how to pick a right safety gear for motorcycle. Therefore, below we have given a few useful tips that will help you select the right protective equipment.

Select Right Helmet

According to many riders protection begins from the top. Therefore, helmet is considered as the most vital piece in a protective gear. So before buying a helmet, rider must ensure that it can absorb significant impacts during crash and allows them to clearly see and hear when they are moving on the road. Aside from this, rider should also make sure that the helmet must fit him or her properly. This means that the helmet should properly grip their jaw, cheeks, sides and top of the head.

Moreover, they should not opt for used helmets because they do not guarantee any safety. Bikers should also keep in mind that full-face helmet available at Rider Wear offer more protection as compared to open-face and three quarter helmets.

Wear Right Clothing

When it comes to riding a bike sweat shirt and jeans is not a good option because unlike a high quality leather jacket and pant they do not offer much defence in a crash. So there is a high probability that the rider will receive lot of scratches or sustain serious injuries, if his or her bike slides on the road. In contrast, leather clothing provides a good first layer defence. Moreover, if a rider adds armour to their leather jacket or get a gear with armours embedded in them then, they will get an additional layer of defence.

However, leather clothing is not an ideal option for the riders living in countries where weather remains quite hot and humid during most part of the year. Worry not, for such regions manufacturers have developed textile motorcycle jackets that are quite light as compared to leather jackets and include armour as well. More importantly, textile jackets do not turn riders into a lump of sweat and also keeps them dry in rainy season because they are water resistant too. However, one must not forget that regular wear and tear can considerably reduce protection.

Get Right Gloves

It is important that like wearing right clothing for bike, a rider must also wear decent protective gloves, so they can protect their hands from getting scratched and bad weathers. The motorcycle gloves are especially designed for this purpose therefore, you will find stuffing and plastic on fingers, wrist and palm areas. Apart from this, rider must also make sure that he or she has chose comfortable gloves for themselves because free movement of the fingers will give them more control over the bike.

Pick Right Boots

To maintain the balance on the bike while riding, it is important that rider must wear the right shoes. Therefore, companies are manufacturing tailor-made boots for the riders, which not only offer great balance, but also provide protection to the feet of the bikers, if they have an accident on road or track. So do not wear cowboy boots or tennis shoes while riding a bike, as they are not designed for riding.

Most Desired Touring Motorcycles of 2014

A touring motorcycle is one that is specifically manufactured for touring, but now a day bikers uses all kinds of bikes for this purpose. However, still there are many passionate bikers, who cannot imagine taking none touring bike on a long journey. Therefore, every year motorcycle manufacturers launches brand new models of their touring bikes to offer such customers more comfort and durability. So as usual with the start of 2014, touring bike makers have unveiled their upcoming models, but we have chosen only three as they are rated as the most desired motorcycles of this year.

BMW R1200RT

Source: Image
BMW R1200RT is at the top in this list because the latest model is rated as the premium touring sports bike in its class because it offers novel design and features. On top of it, BMW has made the frame of this bike more stronger than its siblings. The highlight of the touring bike is that it allows short riders to reach ground more easily, as BMW has lowered the triangle formed by the foot pegs, handlebars and seat by an inch. Another top feature of BMW’s R1200RT is that it has a power-adjustable windscreen that along with the new body design gives riders better protection in various weather conditions.

However, it’s the Hill Start Control feature of the R1200RT that makes it a supreme choice for riders, as this new technology prevents the bike from going backwards when it is going up on hill slope. Above all, the BMW R1200RT has an extremely powerful air- and liquid-cooled 1170cc engine that gives it the thrust to carry the heavy frame on it without any trouble.

MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800

To give BMW’s R1200RT a good run for money, MV Agusta is planning to launch its Turismo Veloce 800 sport-touring bike, as according to the manufacturer it was their effort to produce a Porsche Panamera of bikes. To achieve this task, engineers at MV have done a lot of hard work, as apart from designing a new frame for the Veloce 800 they have also incorporated the 798cc triple engine of the company in the bike that features brand new MVICS electronics to give riders three riding modes and eight different levels of traction.

Furthermore, the hard bags plus standard quick shifter and TFT dash on the upcoming Turismo Veloce 800 has made this 428 pounds beast the looks of a true touring spots bike that is specifically designed for a tailor-made weekend trip.

Motus MST & MST-R

 Source: Image
Although, the new sport touring bikes of Motus, MST & MST-R did not have the looks of BMW’s R1200RT and MV Agusta’s Turismo Veloce 800, but they surely have the torque to climb the hills and tackle the twisty turns without any problem. This can be judged from the fact that Motus MST & MST-R cruises on the road with 3,000 rpm when the rider puts it in the top gear. It is said that the standard model of the MST will produce 160 horsepower, while the supreme version of the bike known as MST-R will give 180 hp. To handle this kind of power and thrust, Motus has incorporated Ohlins suspension, OZ wheels and Brembo brakes in the touring bikes that are expected to hit the markets in the near future.

The Largest Museum of Motorcycle Sees Rise in Turnover During 2013, Expects 2014 to be Even Better

The National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, England has witnessed a successful last year (2013), as the venue that has the largest collection of British motorcycles saw a 7.5 percent increase in turnover in contrast to 2012. The authorities at the National Motorcycle Museum also revealed that the credit of this increase in the turnover goes to a series of successful events like conferences, dinners and weddings. The last two months of 2013 particularly remained quite successful for the National Motorcycle Museum, as it saw 20 percent rise in turnover in contrast to the same time period during 2012.

Source: Image
According to the National Motorcycle Museum this success truly depicts the findings of 5th annual British Meetings & Events Industry Survey, in which Birmingham was chosen as the best place for events after London. Now the museum is looking to build on this success in the New Year, as the venue expects to see increase in turnover during the first quarter of 2014 up to 10 percent as compared to the Q1 of 2013. On this occasion, the directors of the museum divulged that they were confident that the events industry would recuperate from the decline, as more events will be confirmed in the coming months.

The director of the museum, Nick Hartland said that they are pretty happy to see that the industry is on its way to recovery from the downward spiral and last year remained quite successful for them. Adding to it, Hartland admitted that though events during the past year were of short lead times, but it seems that this trend will continue in 2014 as well.

Besides an expected increase in the turnover, the year 2014 is of great importance for the National Motorcycle Museum for another reason, it marks the 30 years of the venue in October. Therefore, to celebrate this momentous occasion, museum has planned to hold an exclusive event in October. The guests that are expected to attend this showcase event will include wedding planners, event agents and bookers. During the event these guests will not only get the chance to discover what will be offered to them, but they also get to listen and see the amazing Mighty Whurlitzer organ that will pop out of the stage floor.

However, showcase event of the museum is not the only exciting event that is going to take place at this amazing motorcycle venue, as prior to that between February 19th and 20th, AVL Powertrain UK’s inaugural thought leader event will also take place on this very site in Bickenhill. To hold this Future Powertrain Conference 2014, AVL Powertrain UK has joined hands with Energy Storage Research Network (ESRN) that is supervised by Imperial College London.

Source:Image
Mentioning the reason behind organising the powertrain conference at the National Motorcycle Museum, LMG Events’ Lynda Grice said that the venue not only has a great location, but it also has terrific transportation facility that makes it an ideal place to host an event. Therefore, they are quite thrilled to hold such an innovative event at the museum, said Hartland.

During this conference about 300 delegates from engineering and relevant fields are likely to visit the museum to talk about the solutions and challenges that powertrain will face in the next 10 years in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world. In addition, the attendees of the conference will get to hear from speakers like Bob Joyce of Jaguar Land Rover and Michael Hurwitz of Department for Transport.

Apart from this, sessions regarding topics like future power sources will also take place at the museum, which will be organised by representatives of various organizations such as Ford and Oxford University.

Hopefully these and more upcoming events will enable the largest museum of motorcycle to see better turnover than 2013 in each quarter. More importantly, these affairs are likely to make the museum more popular among the event managers, as apart from having some excellent facilities the venue that spreads over an area of 8 acres also offers great scenery.

How To Start A Motorcycle After It Goes Underwater

Flat tire, cracked case and loose handle bar are some of the common problems that bikers often face. However, having a bike underwater or briefly underwater is a problem, which many riders may not have experienced before. Therefore, when a biker gets stuck in such a situation they usually do not know what to do in such a scenario. As a result of that each year a huge number of motorcycle owners end up paying the expense of full disassembly of their bikes when they found them in the water during flood and storm season. But with slight care one has a good chance of avoiding this expense.

Here is what riders need to do: if a bike is completely submerged in the water then, starting such a motorcycle is a very bad idea as it requires a full disassembly. However, if the bike has went underwater for sometime then, there is good chance that it might come alive once again. Just as the variety of motorcycle accessories offered at RiderWear brings joy on the face of a rider. This can happen if a biker turns the ignition off before his or her bike completely goes underwater.

Otherwise there is high probability that connecting rod can bend because water cannot be compressed from the cylinder. After killing the ignition switch take your bike out of the water onto a dry area and then, remove the spark plug and air cleaner. Then, drain the exhaust pipe and airbox of the bike before laying it on its side. In case, the submerged bike is a two stroke trail motorcycle then, one can easily flip over the whole thing to take the water out.

After that lift your bike up and raise the rear wheel above the ground in order to give it a spin after putting the bike in gear. This will force the engine to turn over leisurely and throughout any water in the cylinder through the plug hole. Those, who have carburettors in their bikes should take out the float bowl or drain screw of the bowl in order to drain the gas before reinstalling it.

Now install the spark plug once again by drying its contacts then, squeeze and twist the air cleaner out to install it again. After which the bike will be ready to start once again and it is likely that the motorcycle will run fine. However, make sure that you should change both engine and gearbox oil of the bike as soon as possible.

Motorcycle lovers have seen some amazing sports bikes during last year and now they are anxiously waiting for the new sports bikes of 2014. Given that various manufacturers have already revealed brand new models of their bikes, which will reach the markets sometime during this year. So we have compiled a list of new sports bikes of 2014, which riders are dying to ride:

Honda CBR1000RR SP

When it comes to producing stylish and high performance motorcycles one can barely forget Honda, as over the years it has produced some amazing literbikes, which have today given the company a huge base of loyal customers. Now the Japanese company is gearing up to make its new CBR1000RR SP sports bike available for sale that has become one of the most anticipated motorcycles of 2014. For the reason that besides its dashing looks the new 1000cc superbike of Honda is extremely fast thanks to its powerful engine that has got the best balance with handpicked connecting rods and pistons.

In addition, the new exhaust and cylinder of the Honda CBR1000RR gives more torque and horsepower to the bike. It is because of this very reason Brembo front brakes have been incorporated in the CBR1000RR to give riders a smooth and reliable breaking system. To the extent the price of the sports bike is concerned it is likely to be offered at $17,000, so those who cannot wait to ride this bike should keep their cash ready and also get a matching riding gear from RiderWear.

Ducati Superleggera

Ducati is once again looking to sweep its customers off their feet by introducing the 1199 Superleggera sports bike during this year. The special thing about the Superleggerra is that Ducati has used titanium in this expensive and limited edition of the motorcycle, which has made the speed monster extremely light weight. In fact, titanium has also been used to make the intake valves, exhaust and even the coil spring of the bike that swirls around the Öhlins TTX36 shock. In addition to titanium, Ducati has also used lightweight magnesium to build some parts of the sports motorcycle such as the airbox and front part of the frame.

As far as the engine of this beast is concerned, Ducati has incorporated 1198cc V-twin engine in Superleggera that will give riders a whopping 200 horsepower. In brief, Ducati Superleggera is a custom-built sports bike that will come with two years company and unlimited mileage warranty. More importantly, Ducati will produce only 500 Superleggera, so keep your cheque books ready if you want to get your hands on this amazing bike.

KTM RC390

Though, Austria based KTM is manufacturing motorcycles since 1954, but its experience in producing street bikes is limited as the company is more known for making off road bikes. In spite of this fact, KTM is swiftly making a name for itself in building sports motorcycles as well. This can be judged from its latest production KTM RC390 that is a race-ready sports bike with a 373cc four-stroke liquid-cooled engine. This four-stroke single engine of the RC390 gives riders 43 horsepower that is enough for them to enjoy a swift ride on twisty tracks and roads.

The powerful engine of this sleek bike is well supported by reliable WP suspension, good braking system and dynamic chassis geometry. Furthermore, KTM has also decreased the steering-head angle of the RC390 by 23.5 degrees, so it can give quick response. As a result of these new innovations, KTM’s electric-start RC390 motorcycle has become more of a Moto3 race bike rather than just a street bike. It is because these fine features motorcycle lovers around the world are dying to ride RC390.

Benefits of Wearing Electrically Heated Motorcycle Gear

Usually motorcyclists love to take their bikes for a spin when the weather is slightly cold, but extremely cold and snowy conditions are not considered ideal to enjoy a ride. For the reason that it gets too cold for riders to drive their motorcycles and on top of it slippery and snowy conditions makes it almost impossible for bikers to even think about bringing their rides out of the garage. Although, tires specifically designed tires for snow and icy conditions have solved this problem to an extent. Still it is not possible to take a ride without keeping your body warm in colder regions of the world.

The reason why a motorcyclist needs to keep his or her body warm while driving a bike is that cold will make them loose their concentration which raises the probability of having an accident. Though, layering of winter clothing is not a bad idea at all, but it would not be sufficient if the person is planning to take a ride in snowy and icy weather condition. However, no matter whatever the weather conditions are its hard to pin down a hardcore rider from taking his bike out. Moreover, there are people who have to go out on their bikes in the cold weather, as they have no choice.

Therefore, to sort this issue for the both passionate and everyday riders, manufacturers have now also started offering electrically heated motorcycle gear. The heated motorcycle gear not only includes specially tailored jackets and trousers, but gloves as well. All these things keep the body of a biker completely warm no matter how cold the weather is out there. Thus making it lot easier for the riders to drive in tough conditions without giving them any uncomfortable feeling. So those who cannot stop themselves from driving the bike in winters should at least get themselves a heated jacket in  order to have a smooth ride.

It is noteworthy to mention here that heated jackets are available in both female and male version. So riders from both genders can enjoy a ride of motorcycle during winter. However, in contrast to stores like RiderWear provides wide variety of clothing, helmets and accessories for the bikers the number of stores that offers electrically heated motorcycle clothing is limited. The reason behind it is that the demand for motorcycle heated clothing is quite low. Nevertheless, riders in the colder regions would not face much difficulty in getting electrically heated motorcycle clothes, as manufacturers and retailers of such clothing particularly focuses in these areas.

Wearing heated clothes, however, does not mean that a rider is all set to hit the road, as he or she also needs to keep a few more essential things in mind before leaving the house. One, the rider should not get over confident or too relaxed after wearing heated clothes, as he or she needs to respect the road at all times. For the reason that you will never know what will you get at the next curve. Therefore, it is important that before starting the journey riders should take their time and try not to lose their focus.

Secondly, a biker should maintain a decent distance from the next vehicle or bike, as roads are quite slippery in cold and snowy areas. Thirdly, riders should take regular breaks when riding in winters in order to keep themselves warm at all times because a journey without a pause will make them colder and colder. Lastly carry your sunglasses with yourself and in spite of all the dangers try to enjoy the ride.

Lightning’s Electric Superbike Is The World’s Fastest Electric Motorcycle

Motorcycle manufacturers around the world always look to take lead over one and another when it comes to producing new model of their bike, so they could attract more buyers than their competitors. Therefore, each year we get to see bigger and better engines for the bikes which not only produces more horse power than their predecessors, but also beat their rivals in top speed. However, now this competition of producing world’s fastest motorcycle is not limited among the conventional motorcycles makers, as electric bike manufacturers are also working hard to produce the fastest electric bikes. As a result of that motorcycle lovers got to see some of the finest and fastest electric motorcycles like Voxan Wattman and Lightning Motorcycles’ Electric Superbike during last year.

Among these two bikes, Voxan’s Wattman appears to be world’s fastest electric motorcycle, as it has a peak power of 150 kW. However, in reality Lightning’s Electric Superbike is the true champion of this category. This could be judged from the fact that in spite of having a low peak power of 125 kW, the electric sports bike of Lightning has managed to crush Voxan Wattman’s 0-100 kilometre per hour (0-63 miles per hour) time of 3.4 seconds by achieving 0-160 kilometre per hour (0-100 miles per hour) speed in just 3 seconds only. Apart from this, the top speed of the two machines are also no match, as the electric cruiser Wattman can achieve just 170 kmph (106 mph) speed, while Lightning’s sports bike can race up to 265 kmph (166 mph), when full throttle is given.

Therefore, it is necessary that one should wear traditional gear and helmet, while riding world’s fastest electric bike. You can find a wide range of motorcycle gears and helmets at the online store RiderWear. One major reason which makes Wattman a runner up in this race is that the cruiser weighs (770 lb) more than the electric sports bike (310 lb). However, top speed and weight are not the only two categories in which Lightning’s Electric Superbike outshines Wattman, as it has a unique user-programmable regenerative braking system in it that allows the batteries of the motorcycle to charge each time the brakes are applied and throttle is closed. However, one cannot confuse Lightning’s Superbike with a touring bike because it gives a range of slightly more than 100 miles (160 km) on the highway after a single charge and possibly 150 miles (240 km) in a mix driving case.

Here Wattman takes the lead over Superbike, as it does 112 miles (180 km) in a single charge. Nevertheless, the title of world’s fastest electric motorcycle belongs to Lightning’s Superbike that has stunned many by winning Pikes Peak International Hill Climb of 2013. In this competition, Superbike won the race by beating Ducati Multistrada with a margin of roughly 20 seconds.

Health Tips For Motorcycle Riders

Riding a motorcycle is a stressful activity and does take a lot out of you. While driving a car, you are much more comfortable, as the seat can be adjusted according to your needs; you can rest your back easily and move in the way you like. Moreover, you are protected from the weather, as you are covered up properly.

On the other hand, you don’t have this much liberty while riding a motorcycle, as you cannot make adjustments to the seat at all. There is nowhere for you to rest your back or neck and the weather really makes things difficult for you at times. As a result, you are always risking your health on a motorbike, especially if you are a frequent traveler.

Most of the times, the riders are only concerned about their safety on a motorcycle, but they ignore the fact that their health is also at risk. Wearing the right protective gear is definitely a good idea, as it makes you feel safer. Even if you are involved in an accident, there are chances that you will survive major injuries with the help of all the armor.

However, you have to look into some other factors as well that can affect your body. You might be an expert motorcyclist with some of the most advanced machines and equipment, yet you will have health issues if you are not looking after your body properly. Therefore, RiderWear brings you a few useful health tips, so that you can continue enjoying your ride.

Stay hydrated

The most important health tip for a rider is to stay hydrated. Drink water before you are thirsty and try not to consume any alternative liquids such as tea, coffee, energy drinks etc. as they are not as good as water. Some people feel that consuming water during winters is not necessary, which is a wrong perception. You are supposed to drink eight glasses in a day no matter what the conditions are. You can increase that number to 12 if you sweat a lot.

Eat the right food

Eat fresh and healthy food that keeps you energetic throughout the day. Moreover, go for a light diet in case you are about to go on a long journey on your motorbike. This way, you will not feel dizzy at all and will be able to focus more on riding than any other thing. If you continue feeling sleepy, you will be unable to concentrate hard on the road.

Get your back and neck massaged

There must be some cool massage centers in your area that don’t charge you much. You should pay a visit to those centers every now and then in order to treat your back and neck muscles. If you are a frequent motorcycle rider, you should get massaged at least twice a month otherwise once a month would also do the trick for you.

Take proper rest before riding

Motorcycle riding demands you to be in perfect condition, so it is advisable that you take proper rest before hitting the road. Sleep for eight hours a day, so that your mind gets enough time to relax. If you haven’t slept properly due to some reason, it is ideal not to go on a long journey on your motorcycle.

Take intervals

Even if you are extremely excited to visit a particular place, you should take intervals during your journey. This gives you some time to relax and you can stay fresh even after reaching your destination. Let’s assume you have to travel 100 kilometers on a motorcycle. In that case, you should take a break after every 25 or 30 kilometers, depending on your physical condition. If you are in a car, you can complete this distance without stopping at all or only once, but things are different when it comes to riding a bike.

Carry your protective gear

Although protective gear is linked to your safety, it affects your health too. If you are facing harsh weather conditions, you might get a heat stroke or catch cold, depending on the weather. In order to avoid that situation, always put on your protective stuff no matter you are going anywhere far or nearer.

Motorcycle Body Armor vs. Jacket

It is always ideal to buy protective gear before you hit the road on a motorcycle. It is no hidden fact that riding a motorcycle is far more dangerous compared to driving a car, where you are covered from top to bottom and don’t have to worry about minor incidents. Even if you hit another vehicle or vice versa, you will be pretty much safe inside your car unless the impact is a heavy one.

However, things can be dangerous when you are riding a motorcycle. No matter you bang into a pedestrian, cyclist or simply lose balance; you will be at a risk of sustaining some injuries to almost all parts of your body. If you fall from a motorbike, the chances are that you will hurt your legs, arms, shoulders, chest or your head.

There is no doubt that the latter situation would be worse, as head injuries can be deadly. As a result, you should always focus on your safety and wear a helmet before going out on a motorbike. You don’t have any alternative to a helmet, so there is no confusion whatsoever. The only confusing factor might be whether to put on a helmet or not. If you use some common sense and look into the deaths caused by motorcycle accidents, you will get the answer.

However, it is definitely a difficult choice to make when you have to decide about the safety of the other body parts, especially your chest and back area. For the safety of mid body region, you have got a couple of choices like the body armor and motorcycle jackets at RiderWear. These are easily available everywhere and you can buy them from the market, get them custom made on order or order them online. They are not expensive at all, especially if you realize how precious your life is.

But the main question remains there, what should you buy before hitting the road on a motorcycle. If you look at the details, you will easily find out that both the body armor and motorcycle jackets have got their unique advantages. They keep you safe and you can be confident while riding.

Some people feel that the body armor is a bit uncomfortable, so they prefer not buying it. To clarify things to such people, you can always take an example of the racers, who don’t hit the track without their body armor. If it was so uncomfortable, riders would not be wearing it during a race, where they cannot afford to be uneasy.

One thing that can be safely said is that the body armor should be preferred by those riders, who are interested in racing and accelerate their motorcycle to the maximum limit. Since they are at a risk of sustaining more injuries, they should opt for maximum protection.

On the other hand, people who are only interested in riding their motorbikes at a moderate speed on the streets, should look to buy the motorcycle jackets, which have got multiple benefits. Not only their extra padding saves you from injuries, you can also fight the harshness of the weather. If it is too hot outside, you can protect your body from sunburns. Moreover, you can always fight the winter with the warm and cozy jackets.

Apart from that, there are waterproof jackets available for motorcycle riders, so that they can hit the road when it is raining. Such jackets are also helpful in case you take a tumble. The material used in their manufacturing is quite strong, so you can feel safe whenever you are on the road.

Summing up, it can be easily said that both the body armor and motorcycle jackets have got their unique characteristics and are quite useful to have. In case you wish to make a choice between the two, you should opt for the former if you are a racer and the latter otherwise.

Motorcycle Accidents - Are The Riders To Be Blamed?

You must have noticed that the number of deaths in motorcycle crashes is far more compared to that in car accidents. You don’t need to be a safety expert in order to find out the reason why this happens. Even a common man would easily be able to point out that the motorcyclists are not fully protected like the people in passenger cars.

When you are driving a car at a normal speed and end up hitting some object, you will be able to control things and survive any injuries, especially if you are wearing a seatbelt. However, the bikers don’t have this choice, as they can sustain serious injuries even if they hit an object at 20 kilometers per hour. The reason is that they have to maintain the balance on two-wheels which is extremely hard no matter how experienced they are.

Governments all over the world are trying their best to prevent motorcycle accidents by introducing some safety laws such as making the helmets mandatory. This is such a good move, as most deaths caused in motorcycle crashes are because of head injuries. There are thousands of people who can be saved in a crash if their head does not hit any object directly.

However, this rule is only applied in a few countries, as others believe they cannot restrict the riders to do something they don’t want. Therefore, the question arises whether who is to blame in case of motorcycle accidents.

Most of the times, you must have heard that people put the entire blame on the motorcyclists, claiming that they were over speeding, not following their lane etc. This is not right though, as there is not just one factor behind such crashes and the responsibility sometimes even lies on the state.

You must be thinking how that can be possible, as the state has got nothing to do with a motorcyclist crashing into any other object. In fact the local authorities are always looking for ways to protect the riders on the streets. So, how can one simply blame them for the accidents being caused on a daily basis?

First of all, it is quite true that the state is not always responsible and it depends on how the rider was behaving on the road. However, it is the responsibility of the local authorities to introduce some strict rules, which prevent the bikers from taking a tumble every other day. Moreover, there should be road signs indicating the dangers ahead, so that the rider can be warned. Finally, the roads should be carpeted in a way that the biker does not lose balance and continues going smoothly.

If all of the above mentioned things are being taken care of, then the state should not be blamed at any cost. The next thing to analyze in that case is the experience of the rider and how he behaved on the road. If he was not following the rules, then he should be the one to blame. For example, he should not be over speeding, breaking signals, breaching lanes and should have his documents such as the rider’s license and the ownership documents.

Moreover, the law restricts the riders to be on the road while they are drunk or under the effect of any drugs. They should be extremely careful, if they don’t want to take any blame of an accident.

To sum up, one can say that mistakes can be made by anyone. However, the ideal thing would be to keep yourself safe from any mishap. For that, you need to buy protective gear RiderWear so that you can limit the damage as much as you can.

5 Important Things You Must Have Before Riding

There are a lot of people, who love riding motorcycles, as they feel it allows them the freedom like no other vehicle does. It is quite true that riding a two-wheeler gives you plenty of joy, especially if the weather is pleasant. However, there are a few things you must have before hitting the road on a motorbike. These things are related to your safety and security of your vehicle, so that you don’t get into any kind of trouble whatsoever.

There is no doubt that driving a car also requires you to take some precautionary measures, but that is still a lot safer compared to riding a motorbike. When you are in a car, you are not under a threat of falling on the road, which will save you from any direct contact. Even if you are hit hard by another vehicle, you don’t have to worry about the balance and things will be under control. Things are completely different when it comes to motorbikes though, as even the smallest of impacts can result in a major issue for you. Since you are only on two wheels, you will have to balance the bike yourself. If you get hit by any other vehicle on the road, there is a chance of you taking a tumble, thus sustaining injuries. As a result, you should always have the following things before going for a ride:

Helmet

Probably the most important thing a person should have while going for a ride on a motorbike is a helmet. It keeps your head safe from direct impact and also serves some other key advantages. There have been numerous instances where bikers had an accident and were not wearing a helmet. As a result, they ended up either dead or paralyzed. There are different types of helmets available at Riderwear.net, which will save you from any major injuries. Above that, your eyes will be protected from small rocks, dust particles and other debris. Remember that helmets don’t cost much than your life. They are durable and can be used for decades, if you don’t treat them harshly.

Motorcycle Boots

RiderWear has designed quality motorcycle boots for men, women and children, so that they can keep their feet protected from harsh weather. You can order waterproof boots, especially if it rains a lot in your area. They are better in terms of grip and are really inexpensive. Even if it does not rain much in your part of the world, the specially designed motorcycle boots will keep you safe from the extreme weather conditions.

Gloves

Depending on what the weather conditions are, you should buy motorcycle gloves from RiderWear Some people prefer wearing gloves during the winter season, but do not take care of their hands in summers, which is a wring thing to do. Harsh sun rays can be damaging for your skin, so always go out with gloves regardless of the weather conditions.

Knee Protectors

A pair of knee protectors can save you from hurting your knees after falling off the motorbike. You might have observed the professional racers wearing them in Moto GP. This does not mean that they are only designed for them. They can be worn by anyone, who is concerned about his safety more than any other thing.

Locks

Last but certainly not the least; you have to ensure the safety of your motorbike. In order to do that, purchase all kinds of locks to secure your motorbike, whenever you wish to park it somewhere. If you buy an asset, you should be concerned about its security as well.
