Lightning’s Electric Superbike Is The World’s Fastest Electric Motorcycle

Motorcycle manufacturers around the world always look to take lead over one and another when it comes to producing new model of their bike, so they could attract more buyers than their competitors. Therefore, each year we get to see bigger and better engines for the bikes which not only produces more horse power than their predecessors, but also beat their rivals in top speed. However, now this competition of producing world’s fastest motorcycle is not limited among the conventional motorcycles makers, as electric bike manufacturers are also working hard to produce the fastest electric bikes. As a result of that motorcycle lovers got to see some of the finest and fastest electric motorcycles like Voxan Wattman and Lightning Motorcycles’ Electric Superbike during last year.

Among these two bikes, Voxan’s Wattman appears to be world’s fastest electric motorcycle, as it has a peak power of 150 kW. However, in reality Lightning’s Electric Superbike is the true champion of this category. This could be judged from the fact that in spite of having a low peak power of 125 kW, the electric sports bike of Lightning has managed to crush Voxan Wattman’s 0-100 kilometre per hour (0-63 miles per hour) time of 3.4 seconds by achieving 0-160 kilometre per hour (0-100 miles per hour) speed in just 3 seconds only. Apart from this, the top speed of the two machines are also no match, as the electric cruiser Wattman can achieve just 170 kmph (106 mph) speed, while Lightning’s sports bike can race up to 265 kmph (166 mph), when full throttle is given.

Therefore, it is necessary that one should wear traditional gear and helmet, while riding world’s fastest electric bike. You can find a wide range of motorcycle gears and helmets at the online store RiderWear. One major reason which makes Wattman a runner up in this race is that the cruiser weighs (770 lb) more than the electric sports bike (310 lb). However, top speed and weight are not the only two categories in which Lightning’s Electric Superbike outshines Wattman, as it has a unique user-programmable regenerative braking system in it that allows the batteries of the motorcycle to charge each time the brakes are applied and throttle is closed. However, one cannot confuse Lightning’s Superbike with a touring bike because it gives a range of slightly more than 100 miles (160 km) on the highway after a single charge and possibly 150 miles (240 km) in a mix driving case.

Here Wattman takes the lead over Superbike, as it does 112 miles (180 km) in a single charge. Nevertheless, the title of world’s fastest electric motorcycle belongs to Lightning’s Superbike that has stunned many by winning Pikes Peak International Hill Climb of 2013. In this competition, Superbike won the race by beating Ducati Multistrada with a margin of roughly 20 seconds.
