After making his 246 start in the premier class racing on August 31st, Sunday at Silverstone circuit the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi once again managed to reach the podium. The Italian rider finished third at the British Grand Prix after starting from the seventh position, as he moved up several positions. However, during the course Ducati Team’s Andrea Divizioso gave Rossi a tough time in the first four laps. In fact, at one stage NGM Forward Racing’s rider Aleix Espargaro was also involved in the fight, but only for a brief period.
The battling group was then joined by Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa. Before Rossi made the move and outstripped Dovizioso on the lap five with Dani following his lead by passing the Ducati rider. That gave place to midrace battle between Rossi and Pedrosa, but the doctor showed his class and gain advantage on lap 13. After which the nine-time World Champion never looked back and finished in the third place just eight and a half seconds behind the victorious rider Marc Marquez. This was the first time that Rossi was able to reach the podium at Silverstone and that too perhaps in the last race at this venue.
The 246 premier class start by Rossi at Silverstone circuit enabled the Yamaha rider to surpass Alex Barros’s start record in the premier class racing. Also, Rossi has managed to bridge the gap between him and Pedrosa as he is now just 10 points behind the Honda rider in the overall standings.
Reflecting on the race, Rossi said that it was his first podium at Silverstone because usually they struggle a lot at this venue. He said he extremely pleased about his pace in the start. Rossi added that Lorenzo pushed very hard as he slowly picked up pace in the early laps. According to Valentino, there was not much gap between him and Dovi so he stressed the tyre a lot in order to surpass him.
However, later he had to reduce the stress in order to save the tyre, said Valentino. He said that still it was great battle with Predrosa and Dovizioso, as they managed to achieve lot of positive things. More importantly, they remained successful in reaching the podium, said Rossi. Adding to it he said that now they have to take another step in order to be 100 percent ready for Misano within two weeks because it will be his home Grand Prix and they will have to do well in order to give their maximum.
