There are some great examples of drivers, who started racing very young and went onto become the greatest ever in the history. One of those drivers was Valentino Rossi, who starting karting at the age of five and went onto become one of the greatest ever Moto GP champions. He is only the second driver in the history of the sport to win more than 100 races.

On the other hand, one can also take an example of arguably the best motor racing driver in history, Michael Schumacher, who began karting at the age of four. Later, he broke almost all of the records in Formula 1, considered as the pinnacle of auto sports. However, the legendary German was in a safer sport compared to Moto GP, as he was on four wheels.

Although there have been some terrible crashes in the history of Formula 1, yet it is considered to be a lot safer than Moto GP. Even Schumacher, who tested a heavy bike after going into retirement, said that it was extremely dangerous driving on two wheels. The seven time champion himself suffered a crash, but escaped any major injuries because of the protective gear he was wearing.

When the Moto GP Championship, which was earlier known as 500cc Championship, started, numerous riders died due to accidents almost every year. During the 1990s, there were some major crashes, which forced the authorities to take some serious action for the safety of professional racers. One of the most tragic incidents, that changed the racing world forever, was the death of Ayrton Senna, who is still remembered as one of the greatest racing professionals of all time. Since then, rider safety has become the most important factor in all forms of racing. It is mandatory for them to wear the protective gear such as specially designed open face helmets, gloves, and other accessories that minimize the chances of injuries. Unfortunately, it is still impossible to rule out the casualties 100 percent, but we have witnessed very few deaths of riders in the past couple of decades, thanks to the presence of the safety costumes and accessories.
